Programs that take an individual's systolic blood pressure in both arms and legs and calculate the ankle-brachial index (ABI) to detect the presence of arterial disease in the lower extremities, a condition that is caused by an obstruction that limits the flow of blood to the legs and is characterized by leg pain and cramps, redness and swelling.
