Pregnant/Parenting Inmate Support Programs

Programs that provide counseling, prenatal and postnatal support, nutrition services, parenting education including child abuse prevention and/or a variety of other supportive services for incarcerated pregnant women and/or inmates who are parents. Goals are to ensure that inmates learn to be responsible parents, maintain emotional and physical connection with their children and develop a support system that they can rely on during their incarceration and after their release. Some programs provide home visits and other aftercare services to help parents transition back to the community.
