Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse
CAPSA provides free and confidential support and resources to victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their support network through a variety of services: (1) Our 24/7 support line is operated by a trauma-informed, trained staff. (2) CAPSA provides a safe shelter for individuals and/or families escaping domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. We shelter men, women, and their accompanied children for an average of 26 days. (3) Our clinical therapists are trauma-informed experts in treating anxiety, depression, and/or other disorders associated with abuse. CAPSA offers clinical therapy for adults, teens, and children. (4) We support children and families through our Children’s Center with dedicated Youth Advocates. Our Children and Youth Services combine trauma-informed care with advocacy and life skills development, helping children and teens build essential skills and receive guidance, ensuring that every child’s needs and perspectives are recognized. (5) Lastly, CAPSA caseworkers are experts at assisting victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape, and stalking to become safe, secure resources, navigate legal proceedings, find housing, and reach their goals. CAPSA’s impact is especially significant in rural communities across Northern Utah, where geographic isolation, limited resources, and social stigma often create additional barriers for survivors seeking help. In communities such as Northern Box Elder County and Rich County, CAPSA has intentionally expanded survivor services and prevention efforts to ensure individuals in rural areas can access advocacy, education, and safety resources.
