Temporary, safe, and supportive homes for children and youth who cannot live with their biological families. Structured living arrangement where youth are placed with specially trained foster families who offer individualized support, often for older youth or those with higher behavioral or emotional needs. Provide youth assistance in transitioning from foster care to adult living through skill development and resources needed to live independently as adults. Provides supportive care to the person in their place of residence or in the community. It is intended to maximize independence and to prevent or delay premature or inappropriate institutionalization. It is also intended to prevent or delay unwanted out-of-home placement. Support for individuals with disabilities to participate in their communities and develop essential life skills, including social and communication skills, in real-world settings.
