Ruff Haven Crisis Sheltering

A nonprofit organization that provides pet boarding/sitting services for animals to keep people and their pets together, increase pet retention, and decrease the number of animals entering the shelter system. It offers aid during times of crisis, job searches, court required appearances, substance use and other treatment appointments, hospitalization, eviction, and domestic violence situations. Pet vaccinations and emergency care cost coverage available for those referred from a case manager, social worker, or animal shelter; as well as limited pet related housing fee assistance. It also serves as a court ordered community service site.
Description:

Provides 60 days of emergency pet sheltering and fostering to people experiencing a crisis or temporary hardship.

Eligibility:
Clients must be located within the state of Utah for the duration of the pet's stay.

Description:

Offers pet food through the onsite pet pantry. Pick up, or delivery for medically home-bound individuals within a 5 mile radius. Service not meant to be an emergency option, client must be enrolled through website to receive assistance.

Must be a resident of Utah. Must have a working phone or email to receive updates or communications about orders.

Description:

Provides court-ordered community service opportunities working with animals. Duties include cleaning kennels, changing litter boxes, and cleaning the facility.

Eligibility:
Animal-related, domestic violence, violent, or sex offenses are not accepted. Must be 18 and over and have a working email account and access to the internet to sign up for shifts.

Description:

Provides euthanasia services for pets experiencing terminal illness, severe suffering, or end-of-life challenges. Specifically for families experiencing financial hardship.

Eligibility:
Pet owners who are facing financial hardship and cannot afford end-of-life services. Pets must be diagnosed with terminal illnesses, experiencing significant pain, or having a poor quality of life.

Description:

Offers dog and cat grooming for low income pet owners through licensed groomers at one of three locations: Dogs All Day/Ruff Haven in Salt Lake City, Pups Grooming in Sugarhouse, or Brush, Bath, and Beyond in Bountiful. Cat grooming is only available at Brush, Bath, & Beyond. Groomers can provide services including: bathing, brushing, trims/shaves, mat removal, teeth brushing, nail trimming, and anal gland expression. All services depend on coat condition and animal temperament. Appointments are scheduled on a first come first serve basis based on groomer's schedule. Short haired dog owners can get a referral for self-dog wash at Dirty Johnson's in Millcreek.

For low income pet owners. They can provide one free grooming per family every 6 months.
