Provides legal assistance and counseling to low-income Utahns in civil cases. Services offered include eviction prevention, landlord/tenant dispute resolution mediation, legal counseling, general benefits assistance, legal representation, elder law, domestic/family violence legal assistance, bankruptcy assistance, and tenant rights information/counseling. Also, provides legal services volunteer opportunities.
Description:

Represents clients in obtaining protective orders and other domestic violence legal matters. A client does not need to be a United States citizen for domestic violence-related legal services.

Eligibility:
Unlike other legal services offered by Utah Legal Services, Clients do not have to be US citizens for Domestic Violence Legal Services. Call the office for more information.

Description:

Provides bankruptcy-related legal services filing all necessary paperwork with the court and representing the client at the court hearing.

Eligibility:
In general, a potential client must be a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States, their household income must be at or below 200% of the current federal poverty level for the household's size, and their case must be within Utah Legal Services priority of cases.

Helps clients appeal denials for public benefits including Financial Assistance (FEP, GA), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability benefits (SSDI), Unemployment compensation, SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, and CHIP (Child Health Insurance Program).
